APRILSocial Infrastructure Support

Part of our efforts in establishing a thriving self-reliant local community lies in providing adequate social infrastructure support.

These initiatives range from providing educational support, improving health care services to supplying electricity at a subsidized rate to the state electric company, the installation of street lighting and the repair of roads.

We have also established land claim resolution procedures to help settle any land disputes in a peaceful manner. These procedures have been submitted for independent audits to help us maintain an open and fair working system.

Support to EducationSupport to Education
At APRIL, we recognize that the raising the general education level within the community is crucial to the long-term development of the area.

Since 2003, we have seen a considerable increase in the number of donations granted to schools requesting for help in defraying special project and other operational costs.

Apart from the construction of new school buildings and donation of school equipment, APRIL also offers scholarships and teaching grants to both students and teachers. Since the program started in 1999, we have granted honoraria to 1,107 teachers in rural schools in six districts.

Health & Medical Care
Health is as important as educational welfare and our medical provision includes mobile clinics offering free medical check-ups, medicines and immunization, as well as vitamins and nutrients for children and expectant mothers. We fund minor surgery such as cataracts and harelip operations, and provide circumcisions through our mobile clinic.
