Sustainability has never mattered more to business, or to the world. At APRIL we want to develop leaders who are able to tackle the sustainability challenges of tomorrow.

We’re thrilled to open applications for the APRIL Sustainability Professional Readiness Program (ASPiRE), an 18-month accelerated talent development program designed to recruit and train individuals who have a passion and belief that doing good is good business.

Candidates of the program will have access to unparalleled opportunities to take on a wide range of sustainability-related roles in APRIL with a focus on operational/ technical areas. These include opportunities in forestry, manufacturing, peatland science, community development, compliance, R&D, conservation and restoration as well as supporting corporate roles such as stakeholder engagement, strategic initiatives, and communications.

Key features of the programme include:

  • Training on fundamentals of sustainability and relevant soft skills (e.g. project management, leadership)
  • Training on technical components of sustainability (e.g. GIS, HCV/HCSA, human rights impacts, ESG and sustainability reporting)
  • Senior member of APRIL sustainability team dedicated as mentor and coach
  • Rotations to three sustainability work streams in APRIL
  • Opportunity to engage and present to APRIL’s leadership
  • Competitive remuneration since the start of the program

Requirements

  • Recent Master’s degree from a reputable university
  • Relevant academic background (e.g. environmental or social sciences, public policy, business / management, natural resources, sustainability)
  • Minimum 2 years of professional working experience preferred
  • Keen interest to pursue a career in sustainability aligned with APRIL’s core values of complementary Teamwork, Ownership, People, Integrity, Customer, and Continuous Improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is a bonus

APRIL is fully committed to sustainability within its operations and you will have the chance to learn and be a part of a leading sustainable business. ASPiRE is also a fast-track programme that can propel your career as a sustainability professional within APRIL and RGE’s global business groups.

ASPiRE has a strong emphasis on sustainability and in the professional development of its candidates. You will gain competency in various aspects of sustainability within the pulp and paper (and natural resource) industry, including operations, stakeholder engagement, community development, and conservation and restoration activities.

Candidates will be provided with materials and sessions during the orientation phase on various aspects of sustainability pertinent to APRIL’s operating context. During rotations, a senior sustainability professional mentor will be assigned to support you. Opportunities will be available to attend public seminars and workshops for personal development.

Upon successful completion of the programme, ASPiRE graduates that show high ambition and commitment in sustainable development will have an accelerated career-progression within APRIL and RGE’s global business group. The permanent location after the completion of the programme will be based on the career interest of the candidate and the need of the business group.

APRIL offers a competitive remuneration package. Both international and national applicants will be provided with accommodation and annual home travel arrangements.
