Latest news, updates and information on APRIL Group

APRIL and Bracell, operating in Indonesia and Brazil, join forces to showcase women thriving in roles across both companies, highlighting diverse perspectives driving innovation and sustainability.

APRIL (Indonesia) and Bracell (Brazil) recognise that diversity and equal opportunity are vital for sustainable growth. To further improve female representation and participation, APRIL launched its Gender Action Plan in 2023 to increase the number of women leaders to one in every five managers by 2030, per the APRIL2030 target. “Our Gender Action Plan, implemented last year, seeks to remove barriers to the progress of women through the organisation and the creation of enabling factors to encourage high-flyers to stay in the workforce,” said Sihol Aritonang, President Director of PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP), the operational arm of APRIL Group. We assessed and identified gaps in our current employee base and established a baseline using a UN Women Empowerment Principles (UNWEP) gender gap analysis.

At Bracell, women are increasingly taking on roles once dominated by men, with an aim inspire more women to seize these opportunities.

International Women’s Day 2025 was an opportunity to reflect on the progress made and the challenges ahead in the pursuit of gender equality, from Indonesia to Brazil. This reflection led to a storytelling collaboration that highlights RGE’s commitment to gender equity and demonstrates how it unfolds in two distinct yet similar workplaces.

Developed by teams from Sao Paulo, Bahia, Riau, and Jakarta across a 12-hour time difference, "Thriving Her Way/Sucesso Delas, Do Jeito Suas" is a series that celebrates women not only thriving when given the opportunity, but also thriving because of their diverse perspectives and approaches.

The six women featured in this campaign were paired based on similar roles and responsibilities. The series will run across three episodes during International Women’s Day month, highlighting their parallel experiences and the significant roles they play in both companies’ operations:

  • Quezia Santos, Fibreline Production Assistant (Bahia) and Gabriella Carissa, Process Specialist (Riau)
  • Priscila Chuffa, Production Manager (Sao Paulo) and Dian Sitanggang, Senior Researcher - Fibre R&D (Riau)
  • Karine Madruga, Forestry Coordinator (Sao Paulo) and Kristin Dewira, Assistant Manager – Sustainability Programme (Riau)

APRIL2030 + Bracell 2030: Commitment to Gender Equality

Each episode embodies the spirit of APRIL2030 and Bracell 2030 and the ongoing dedication of both companies’ gender equality, creating opportunities for all to thrive.

By 2030, both organisations are driving to increase the presence of women in both leadership and operations roles. Bracell is targeting 30% of women in leadership roles by the target date. APRIL has set numerous initiatives to have 20% of women in its total workforce, with 20% of all leadership roles filled by women.
