The APRIL Group is recognised for its environmental stewardship by major Indonesian news outlet, detik, in its Signature Awards 2024 ceremony.

 

APRIL Group, and its operating arm, Riau Andalan Pulp & Paper (RAPP) was recognized by major Indonesian news outlet detik.com with the prestigious Green Economy Award for Companies Contributing to Environmental Conservation for its outstanding efforts to restore and the protect the environment via RER.

Preserving a peatland forest twice the size of Singapore is an unprecedented achievement for any private corporation and APRIL has accomplished it. Restorasi Ekosistem Riau (RER) is a model for conservation with significant benefits for global climate and biodiversity. Since its establishment in 2013, RER has protected over 150,000 hectares in Riau province, Sumatra, as well as restored its degraded areas from previous illegal activity.

“RER is a true reflection of APRIL Group’s commitment to ecosystem restoration and biodiversity protection in Indonesia, along with the government’s efforts to control climate change by reducing carbon emissions. This recognition will further inspire us to continue our efforts,” says Sihol Aritonang, President Director of RAPP. The acknowledgement is a proud honour for us at the APRIL Group, highlighting our ongoing successful commitment to environmental stewardship.
