The Riau Provincial Government received 400,000 pieces of cloth masks from APRIL as assistance in fighting the spread of Covid-19 in Riau Province.

"The cloth masks will be distributed to suppress the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in the red zone of the spread of the dangerous virus," said the Governor of Riau, Syamsuar, in his statement in Pekanbaru.

Syamsuar said that he was very grateful and appreciated the assistance. He said that cloth masks are urgently needed to prevent transmission of Covid-19 in the community.

According to Syamsuar, the spirit of mutual cooperation which is reflected in APRIL's efforts needs should be made an example for the community and other parties.

"This assistance can help prevent the transmission of Covid-19. It is hoped that more companies in this area will take part in helping local governments to deal with Covid-19 in Riau, so that the collective spirit must be properly maintained in building this nation and country," he said.

Cloth masks produced by PT RAPP

APRIL's Stakeholder Relations Manager, Wijatmoko Rah Trisno, explained that the distribution of 400,000 cloth masks was part of the company's commitment to work with the government in dealing with this outbreak.

"The masks are made of two layers of viscose rayon, which is softer and more comfortable on the face. The 400,000 face masks will be donated periodically until the end of October," he said.

He further explained that APRIL produced the donated masks in collaboration with Asia Pacific Rayon (APR), a leading producer of high quality viscose rayon materials. Thus, the mask will be softer, reusable and more comfortable to use in daily activities.

The donation of cloth masks is part of APRIL’s effort to build and maintain the nation’s resiliency in the face of Covid-19 pandemic.

Other efforts include empowering MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) and a humanitarian mission to Shanghai, China to collect 1 million medical masks, 1 million surgical gloves, 100,000 protective gowns (PPE), and 3,000 protective which were donated to health workers in Indonesia.
