Life at APRIL: Basketball Club - Careers at APRIL Group
- Details
By day they plant trees, but by night, they shoot threes.
Set within the town of Pangkalan Kerinci in Sumatra, Indonesia, the Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP) Complex was built entirely by APRIL Group for its employees and their families.
It houses 36 different sports facilities for the RAPP’s community use, including a basketball court for these members of the RAPP Basketball Club.
The RAPP Basketball Club started in 2005, and currently comprises 35 active members.
Membersmeet up for basketball training after work every Tuesday and Friday.
Besides this main club, there are also several smaller basketball clubs formed by the various business units owned by APRIL. All these clubs compete on a yearly basis in a bid to be crowned the RAPP Complex basketball champions.
They also participate in district tournaments, with support from APRIL. In 2018, the RAPP Basketball Club came third in a competition organised by Perbasi Riau (Persatuan Bola Basket Seluruh Indonesia Riau) for company teams in Riau.
This is part of a ‘Life at APRIL’ series which showcases what it’s like to live and work as part of the APRIL community.
